How PermitWire turns city records into a workable morning feed.

What we collect

We use the City’s Active Building Permits and Last 30 Days Building Permits datasets. The active feed provides the current permit population; the rolling feed helps retain records that were issued and finalized quickly enough to leave the active feed.

How records are combined

PermitWire identifies a city record by its folder record number, combines the two feeds, and removes duplicates. New records and changes are compared across refreshes. The city’s newest issue date can be incomplete during a refresh, so the ingest checks a trailing window instead of treating one day as final.

How we classify a permit

Trade labels and readable permit titles are PermitWire interpretations of the city’s folder name, folder description, and work description. The original city work description remains visible on each record. A label can be incomplete or wrong when the source record is incomplete or uses a code we cannot reliably expand.

How lead readiness is calculated

Lead readiness measures how much usable context the city record contains. The 100-point score uses issue recency (25 points), a named contractor (20), reported valuation (20), work-scope detail (15), jobsite detail (15), and presence in the active city feed (5). PermitWire sorts Morning Wire matches by this score and shows the points behind every result.

Readiness is not a project-quality rating or a prediction that you will win work. It helps prioritize records for research; every source fact should still be confirmed before outreach.

What the data does not establish

A permit is not a guaranteed job opportunity. Reported valuation may be missing or zero, a contractor may be absent, and PermitWire does not verify contractor licensing, project status, ownership, or contact eligibility. Always verify a record with the City and use appropriate outreach practices.

Refresh timing

The City datasets are refreshed daily. PermitWire checks after the city refresh and displays the record dates provided by the City. A city record can appear after its issue date, and a record may change or disappear from an operational feed.
